USU Extension Night with sessions about Cooking, Natural Textile Dyes, Hand stitching, & Beekeeping.

8:30 AM: Our keynote speaker, Derrick Tollefson, will motivate us with his talk on “Get out of Your Own Way.”
Learn evidence-based Mind-Body Bridging techniques to build resilience, alleviate psychological distress, and enhance well-being by understanding and reframing your thought processes.
Food & Nutrition Sessions
Wil Wood from Love To Cook: Watch a pie crust demo and learn versatile uses for it, while Wil shares his personal journey with ADHD and the tools he uses to stay organized and succeed in both business and teaching.
New Foods & Nutrition Strands & Standards: Come discuss ideas for teaching the new strands and standards with Cindy Tegge. This is a hands-on session!
Aggie Chocolate: Participate in a chocolate-tasting session from USU Chocolate Factory. Seats limited to first 40 participants.
Sewing Construction & Textiles Sessions
Mini Ironing Boards: Learn to make individual ironing boards (14"x7") for classes. Please bring: a fat quarter, craft foam, batting, and a staple gun (if you have one).
Thread Catchers: Create your own thread catcher bag. Bring: fabric (1 piece 17.5"x11" for lining, 1 fat quarter for outside), stabilizer strip (18"x1/2"), and filling (rice, sand, or crushed walnut shells).

Reasons for Misbehavior with Brittney Israelsen from The Family Place: Explore the reasons behind childhood misbehavior using the STEP curriculum. Learn practical strategies to address and redirect behaviors, fostering positive growth through understanding and empathy.
Understanding Trauma & How It Affects Children with Brandy Mouritsen from The Family Place: Learn to recognize and address trauma's impact on children's development and behavior. Gain research-based insights and practical strategies to create a trauma-sensitive environment, fostering resilience and well-being in students.
Interior Design Sessions
Commercial vs Residential Design with Holly Murdock (USU Professor): Learn how to incorporate more commercial design into your classroom. This will help give a more complete view of what it means to be an interior designer and create a more inclusive environment for students hesitant to share details of their personal life. This presentation aligns with Interior Design 1, Strand 7; Interior Design 2, Strand 2 & 3
Teaching codes with your school building and why buildings are the way they are with Steve Mansfield, USU Professor: Learn about building codes and go on a code scavenger hunt around Logan High. This presentation aligns with Interior Design 3, Strand 6
Interior Design USU student board: Current USU students will share what they wish they had known before their college interior design program. The good, The bad, and the ugly.

Family and Consumer Sciences Around the Globe with Natalie Hancock and Dana Hunter from BYU: Discover global trends in Family and Consumer Sciences from the 25th World Congress in Ireland. Learn how to get involved and what to expect at international conferences, with the next Congress in 2028 in New Zealand.
Games in the FCS Classroom by BYU FCSE students (Moderated by Natalie Hancock & Nicole Lauper): explore how games can enhance learning in Family and Consumer Sciences. Discover fun and effective game-based strategies to engage students and reinforce key concepts.
